BCP are working primarily with the Environment Agency, Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Coastal District Council who have statutory responsibilities for the management and maintenance of the defences and the Shoreline Management Plans for our coastline.  Additionally the BCP will work with all other interested and related bodies, eg: Natural England, Suffolk AONB, etc.

To ensure that the EA, SCC, SCDC, the local community and other interested bodies work effectively on these issues, BCP and its partners have undertaken the following:

 1. Establishing what is at risk  - An assessment of the Community’s economic, social and environmental assets which are at risk from predicted flooding (up to 4.8 metres AOD) has been undertken and concluded that the economic vlue of assets at risk is £150 million.  This report can be downloaded from the page enttled BCP documents.

2. Two studies were commissioned on our behalf by the Environment Agncy and the Crown Estate.  These provide some info on coastal processes and some preliminary cost estimates of works which might be undertaken.  They can be found under Third Party Reports.

3. We have now commissioned consultants to investigate the options for protecting our coast over a 100 year tiem frame.  They are being managed on out behalf by the Internal Drainage Board (IDB).  This will be undertaken in two phases and the first phase report is expected shortly.  The Terms of Reference for this study can be found under BCP documents.  We aim to produce a non-techncial summary of the Phase i report shortly.
